Gallo has to win the rest of their games by a considerable margin and also hope the teams they are chasing lose the rest of their games. This is a tough ask but crazy things have happened in the PBHL The first half was a sloppy affair, not mine clear cut chances as both teams were having difficulty generating much offence. The first goal was scored by ERC, Rajan Heer took the offensive zone faceoff and elected to shot rather than win it back. Good choice, he scored off the draw. Early into the second half, Deep Sangha scored off a 1-timer assisted by Rajan Dhami. 1-1. This didn’t last long, 5 minutes after Deep’s goal, ERC re-took the lead. Harsahil Josan pinched in and scored a backhand goal from near the slot area. The insurance goal was scored by Karanvir Gill, another ERC defender. Similar story, he found himself in deep in enemy territory and he buried. Gallo didn’t recover from this deficit and are now mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.

Both teams are within that logjam between 3rd and 8th place in the standings. DI scored first, Jesse Virdee and JJ passed it back and forth in the offensive zone until Jesse took a first time snap shot that went low far side. The shot was taken a few feet from inside the blue. The second goal was also scored by DI. Anoop Grewal floated into some free space in the slot, when Mahfouz found him he hit it first time and beat the goalie through the five hole. His celly was pretty wild and we got jacked up after seeing it. Fun Park cut the lead in half after Sunny Brar captured a clearance attempt on the right side. He walked in to the red circles and snapped it first time. DI answered that goal with another nice passing play. Mahfouz and Virdee connected again on a 2 v 1 and Mahfouz found Virdee streaking back post for the goal. 3-1 DI. Fun Park cut the lead again, this time Romeo Deol cut from the right side and shot it left corner. Fun Park tied it up right after that. Sanjay passed it in front to Kurran Kaura who made no mistake.

3-3 is where it fell apart for Fun Park. They had no answer to DI’s offence. Amit Mann took a shot which went wide but it took a lively bounce off the end boards and went straight to Mani Boparai who made no mistake from close. Then Jiven Gill went behind the net and passed it to a wide open Virdee for his hat trick goal. Virdee wasn’t it done there. He and Amit Mann connected for another give and go which was finished by Virdee sniping from the slot. 4 goals from the d-man, wow.

Pizza 38 is barely clinging onto a playoff spot and they were in tough against the first place All India. For near the first time this season, Pizza 38 had close to their full lineup and on the other end, All India was missing some key pieces in the back. Pizza 38 came out flying out of the gate. Their first line enjoyed significant possession in the All India zone and Jaz Dhaliwal had to be sharp to keep All India in this game at the start. But the dam gave way just 30 seconds in. Gurp Bhangal was behind the net, he turned and found Jas Sadhra streaking towards the net, Jas took it first time and snapped it over the goalie’s pad for a goal. Despite the Pizza 38 pressure, All India did well not to go down 2-0 but eventually that pillar fell too. Gurp Bhangal stole the ball, went all alone and snipped it from the left side. 3-0 after Mani Sira found himself on a clear cut breakaway, he pulled a dirtyyy move and beat the goalie for the goal. All India got one back, Andy Grewal got credit it for it. Sunny Basi made a pass, it deflected off the goalie and Andy for the goal. Pizza 38 made it 4-1 on the PP, Sandeip Khanna got the ball at the point, he waited for something to open up, when it didn’t, he stopped and popped from the blue line, top cheese. Gakhal scored one for All India, he got the ball in deep, did well to protect it then backhanded it in. 5-2 is how this ended.

After seeing Pizza 38 handle All India, the pressure turned up on Eyes. They are now 3 points back of Pizza 38 for the final playoff spot. And they were up against the red hot Art Homes team. It didn’t start well for Eyes. Ram Soos cut into the slot area unabated and scored. 1-0. But Eyes got it back just two minutes later, Tajvir Dhillon also sniped from the slot area. Eyes took the lead 2 minutes after that. Navdip Khinda scored from his office assisted by Khalil Juma and Arshil Ahmed. 2-1. A miscommunication between the Eyes defender and goalie led to Art’s second goal. Harkirat Bhangoo was Mr. Kithiee on the spot and pounced on a loose ball in the crease.

In the second, Akash Mehta was sent on a breakaway by Roni Sandhu, Akash showed great composure and went forehand backhand to burn the goalie. Sukhman Thind put this game out of reach. Off a faceoff, he shot it and scored. 4-2 Art.

Telus is trying to get their season back on track and had to do so without some key pieces on D. Hot Shot is coming off a dominant win over Pizza 38 last week and want to use that momentum to knock off the 2nd place team. If Hot Shot wins today, they become a serious threat to Telus’ 2nd place spot in the standings. 2nd place plays 1st place in the first round of the PBHL playoffs for a bye. Newly acquired Sunny Nerval made some friends quickly. 8 minutes into the first, he took a shot which bounced weirdly and fooled the goalie, beating him low left corner. 1-0 at half.

In the second, Hot Shot evened it up. Deepu Sandhu took a shot, the rebound flew in the air and Jaspal Dosanjh showed some great hand eye to bat it out of mid-air for the goal. Fun fact, Jaspal Dosanjh used to play softball on the Kate Chegwin Junior team as a grader 9er.

Telus did well to quickly score after Hot Shot had tied it. This zapped any life Hot Shot had. Mano Sidhu received a pass from a defender, edged off a defender and shot it five hole for the goal.

Arjun Basi scored a great goal. First he chased down a defender and stole it. Then he passed it out in front of the net to Kal who shows awareness to tap it back to Arjun who finished it off after a mad scramble in front.

On their next shift, Kal passed to Arjun Basi who went behind the net and waited until he found Manraj Khosa waiting to tee one up. Manraj did just that, top shelf. 4-1 Telus wins.
