PBHL’s resident Big Man gives us his take on the week that was.

All India would enter this game 2 pts out of first with the potential of finishing the day in 1st due to the tie breaker rule. Eyes was looking to add to last week’s win and keep pace for the final playoffs spot.

Eyes would open the scoring under 3 minutes into the game off an All India turnover Nadeem “The Dream” Gangji would put a shot on net that would be initially stopped, but rookie Arshil Ahmed would show nice hands collecting the rebound and slotting it past Jazz Dhaliwal to put his team up 1-0. All India would level up at 11:52 mark of the first. Jessie Sohi would continue to produce since being moved to All India burying a beautiful feed from Capo Rob Gakhal to level up the score. All India would add 2 more 13 seconds apart. With 4:44 remaining in the 1st Harminder Atwal would capitalize on a rebound putting All India 2-1, followed by a beautiful rush and spinorama finish by Jayden Pannu off the ensuing face off. Momentum would seem to be going All India’s way headed into the half but with just over 2 minutes remaining in the first Nav Khinda would take a feed in the slot for Arshil and finish it top shelf. We would head into half time with All india up 3-2. Eyes would continue to press for the tying goal early into the 2nd half. Amit Singh would provide the equalizer collecting the ball on the left board and slapping one towards the net beating Jazz to level up the game at 3-3. The game would remain tight the rest of the way as both team put a tremendous effort forward to try and take the lead. Regulation would not be enough as the teams would head into overtime and eventually the shootout. Unfortunately I had to take a Piss and didn’t see the shootout, so apologies to the guys who scored, but Eyes on 34th would come out with the big win keeping them within striking distance for a playoff spot.

Art Custom homes would look to retain their 2 point gap following the Eyes on 34th win for the final playoff spot. Fun Park would enter the week in 3rd place and would look to capitalize on the All India lose to move within 3 points of 2nd place with a victory. Captain Sukhman Thind would miss his 2nd straight week for Art Customs home

This game would be more of a defensive struggle with some great goaltending being displayed. Fun park would come out the gates applying pressure and directing a lot of shots towards the Arts custom goal, but goaltender Balraj “BK” Khosa would be up to the challenge weathering the storm for his team turning away that early pressure. Art customs would find their legs and the game would begin to even out with neither team giving each other much room. The breakthrough would come midway into the 1st period as Akash Metha would beat Joe Sandhu with a shot from the left board putting Arts Customs up 1-0 and scoring in back to back weeks. Arts would take this lead into half time. The game would remain tight contested in the 2nd half. BK. Fun Park would finally level up the game late into the 2nd as Sam Punian finished a great pass and play between Sanjay and Armanjot. This game like the one before it would head to overtime. Once again OT would solve nothing and a shootout would be needed. Roni Sandhu would score on the first attempt to give Arts the lead. That would be all they needed as BK would stop all 3 of Fun parks attempt to help give his team the huge victory, allowing them to remain 2 pts clear in the final playoff spot.

ERC entered this game 1 points behind Hot shots and would fall drop into 8th following the Art customs win with a loss. Hot shots was looking to snap a 3 game losing streak and position themselves back into a 3rd place tie following Fun parks shoot out loss. Captain Navi Brar would miss the game for ERC.

This game would follow the lead of the game before it, turning out to be a tightly contested defensive battle. The first half would see both teams limiting each other space, with both squads executing their game plans and playing a sound defensive game in front of their goaltenders. The first half would end without much offensive excitement as the score would read 0-0. The 2nd half would be more of the same as the teams looked to play defense first, but unlike the first half ERC would find a goal 11:05 into the 2nd and Ricky Grewal would send a pass into the slot and Navu Sandhu would provide the finisher to put ERC up 1-0. Both Bobby Rai and Shiv Puri were playing well in this game as the later looked as though he would see his team through with the 1-0 victory, but with 5 seconds remaining in the game Gagan Kharia would knock home a backhanded rebound to give Hot shots the 1-1 tie. Once again for the 3rd straight time in the day this game would head to overtime and eventually to another shootout. Both goalies would shut down the first two shooters. ERC’s new addition Rajan Heer would score on his third attempt, and Bobby Rai would stop Sunny K to give ERC the extra point and the win.

TELUS would look to provide itself a 3 point gap between them and All India for first place with a victory. Gallo & Company entered sitting in last place and was looking to start a turnaround for their season with a big victory over the first place TELUS squad. They would have to do it without leading scorer Joe Sangha as he would miss this game.

Things would start off well for Gallo, as captain Deep Sandhu would walk in a lone of Guppy Rai and score on a beautiful backhand move top shelf to put his team up 1-0 just two and a half minutes into the game. 5 minutes later TELUS would equalize as Anoop Sahota would feed Arjun Basi in close who made no mistake and leveled the game 1-1. Slightly over 2 minutes later TELUS would take the lead. Power forward “Pretty” Pirt Thind would bolder his way to the Gallo goal and collect the cross crease feed from Anoop Sahota and finish the pass putting TELUS up 2-1. The ensuing celebration from TELUS after this goal would look much like the dance off scene from the Michael Jackson “Thriller” music video. The wheels would begin to come off for Gallo following this goal, as a minute after Pirts goal rookie Manraj Khosa would add to his league lead in goals burying a feed from viral sensation Kal Sahota. Anoop Sahota and once again Pirt Thind would add two more before half time to give TELUS the 5-1 lead at the break. TELUS would continue the 2nd half as the ended the first, Manraj Khosa would add his 2nd of the contest less then 2 minutes in. Jason Heer would add another for telus shortly after. Gallo would add two consolations goals from Nonie Mann and Sunny Atwal. Anoop Sahota would add his 2nd of the game for TELUS in the final minute to give them the 8-3 win.

Dhillon Insurance was looking to jump Fun Parks into third place with win. Pizza 38 sat 2 points behind DI and would not only tie them with a win but set up a 4 team log jam for 4th place with themselves, DI , ERC , and Hot Shots.

Both teams came out setting a quick tempo to this game, and it was obvious early that Pizza 38 captain Rajbir “Lefty” Grewal came to play in this one. DI directed every toward lefty creating early chances. They would finally beat the Pizza 38 tender just before the 10 minute mark. Vetern Sarb Bath would take wrister from just inside the blue line getting it past lefty to put DI up 1-0. This would be the scoreline heading into the half time break. Pizza 38 came out with new life in the 2nd half and began to generate much more of a offensive push. They would equalize the game at the 12:09 mark of the 2nd. Rookie Gurjyot Arora would take feed from Rajan Dhami to get on the partial break and sneak a wrister past Karn Mann to tie it up. The game would begin to flow back and forth as both team would show they could generate dangerous attacks. Pizza 38 would be the ones to jump ahead, Mani Sira would tip home the Hinda Sandhu shot to give his team the lead. With just over 3 minutes left Sira would strike again taking a feed from Gurp Bhangal in the slot and putting it home to put Pizza 38 up 3-1. DI would answer 30 seconds later as Mahfouz answered with his own goal from the slot. DI would apply pressure but lefty would shut the door saving 28 of 30 shots and giving Pizza 38 the big 2 points.
