Vacuums were buzzing as soon as soon as the ball dropped. They were hard on the forecheck and caused HS all sorts of trouble. HS didn’t take many shots and didn’t have much possession for the first 10 minutes. The game evened out but the nod went to Vacuums.

But it was HS that scored first and the timing of the goal changed all momentum. With 1:44 Sunny Basi found himself behind the opponent’s net. He feed Nick Janjua on the right side who made a smart pass near the crease. Jiven Gill didn’t get much wood on it but enough contact to send the ball through the 5 hole of goaltender Guppy Rai.

HS wasn’t done. A minute later on the PP and with 34 seconds left in the first, Akash Mehta created some space by faking a pass to the point. The defender bit. Instead he curled in and wristed it past the goalie.

It was 3-0 after Sonny Sekhon found Chandan Sangha in the slot. I still don’t understand how Chandan got so open in the slot. He had enough time to do a full windup and take a slapshot. He didn’t get all of it but it was enough to beat Gurpreet Rai.

Vacuums made it 3-1 when Manny Grewal through it in front of the net and Raj Virdi did well to make connection and pump it in from the crease area. Amanvir Sanghera was noticeably demoted from the top two lines and rumours suggest that he was displeased with same.

Chandan Sangha scored an empty netter to ice it 4-1.

1:00PM EYES vs ACH

ACH was without some players today and Eyes took advantage. Eyes played well but they are far from the team we saw vs All India several weeks ago. They can’t score. Luckily for both teams, their goalies played well.

Eyes scored first. Sim Mahal did well to push the play and force ACH to block a wrister that had potential. It fell to Mani Boparai who had a couple cracks at in close but Shiv Puri was equal to the task. The ball was loose and Nonie Mann pounced on the rebound and put it upstairs. 1-0 Eyes.

ACH tied it up on the PP. Prabh Thind passed to Sandiep Khanna who found Sunny Matharu in the slot. He made no mistake. 1-1. The goalies shut the door for what few chances remained for either team.

OT did not solve anything.

In shootout, Eyes sent Joe Chahal and Gurp Bhangal. Gurp scored.

ACH sent Harminder Atwal Prabh Thind and Manjot Jaggi and neither could put one past Raj Grewal.

Eyes wins 2-1 SO.

2:00PM FANCY vs PIZZA 38

Pizza 38 needs a win badly. Fancy had a short bench but most of their scorers were present. This one was a chippy affair and getting penalties when playing Fancy is a recipe for disaster. They have the best PP in the league.

Robie Brar scored first for Fancy and yes it was on the PP. He one-timed a feed from Raji Deol and it stayed low and past the goalie’s outstretched left pad.

Sarman Malhi tried black coffee for the first time right before his game. It appears he’ll be trying it again. Sarman took a Zee Abbasi pass and blasted it through the goalie. 1-1.

Greg Gandoke gave Fancy the lead in the second half and yes it was on the PP. He cleaned up after some chaos near the front of the net. Karan Dhaliwal added to the lead 3 minutes after. 3-1.

Pizza 38 made it interesting when Navi Brar scored with 1:30 left in the game. They applied great pressure and had many chances to score. They looked sure to tie it with just seconds left but a shot from the slot careened off the post. Unlucky. Karan Dhaliwal scored an empty netter with just 1 second left in the game.

4-2 Fancy.

Both teams came off wins last week and this was a very important game regarding the final playoff spots. Especially since Eyes won their game earlier today.

Gallo has been playing better of late even without their captain who was sidelined with an injury. They look more organized in their own end and their defender’s are activating in the offensive zone.

We thought that All India solved their scoring woes after beating up on Pizza 38 but they had difficulty creating much offence today.

The first goal was scored 7 minutes into the game. Jas Sadhra took a Ram Soos breakout pass and ran down the middle of the court. He stopped a foot past the blue line and popped a clapper into the bottom right corner.

Rob Gakhal answered the bell for his team. He made no mistake on the All India PP after taking a feed from Jesse Virdee. 1-1.

The game went back and forth. There were only 7 minutes left when Kal Sahota took a nice pass from Jas Sadhra to go on a breakaway. Kal showed great composure and outwaited Jaz Dhaliwal who came out of his net. Kal moved right and around Jaz before putting it upstairs. 2-1 Gallo.

Gallo made it 3-1 on the PP. The ball was worked around the perimeter from Nav Dhillon to Kal Sahota to Jas Sadhra who took it to the net, beat one guy and tried to find Jason Deol who was waiting back door to put it in. The goalie and a back checking defenceman tried intercepting the cross crease pass but during this attempt, one of them put it into their own net.

The game was not over. Rob Gakhal did his best to keep his team in it and he scored again with 1:35 left. Sandeep Gill with the assist.

Gallo held off All India for a 3-2 win.

A big win for Gallo.

Shortly after the game Amanvir Sanghera was traded from Vacuums to Pizza 38 for Armanjot Gill. This was a good move for both teams who are having increasing difficulty scoring goals and winning games.
